I can't believe I won't be seeing all your lovely faces this year... I hope you all know how proud of you I am. In the two years I've spent at Woodward, I've been absolutely blown away by how far you've come. I will miss you so much and hope that you will remember all the good times we've had. JUST DANCE!
CRITERIA

1. TEAM WORK is the most important factor! Everyone should feel included, confident, and comfortable. Every member must participate.
2. You MUST use dance moves that you've learned in class (Of course, you are free to showcase some new moves too).
3. Groups must have a NAME... again, think "team work." Let everyone have a say. You should be able to explain why you chose your group name.
4. No whining. Ninjas do not whine. Don't be silly. Take this seriously, as you will be graded on this. Think about your group. I do not want to see anyone standing around and rolling their eyes. I want to see an EFFORT put forth by everyone. As long as you TRY, you will succeed.
5. Music must be APPROPRIATE for school. If you have to ask, then it's probably not appropriate. You MUST "OK" this with Ms. Lee. Dance time: 1-2 minutes.
6. I will be looking for: CREATIVITY, CHOREOGRAPHY (all in sync, appropriate dance moves) and TEAM WORK (everyone is participating and is HAVING FUN).
7. You will be marked out of 4! Due date to be announced.
GOOD LUCK!!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee
TIP: Have this list handy when your practicing! Like always, if you simply follow the CRITERIA, you should get a 4!

Hello again!
I hope you all had a fabulous Spring Break.
We will be finishing up a few guitar songs, and then we'll move on to dance.
In the meantime, I wanted to show you another one of my favourite videos. I think it serves as an amazing reminder to appreciate each day and live your life to the fullest! Never forget about the people you love and the people who love you back.
I hope you like it!

CONTEST!!
M is for...
Hello Fine Arts Ninjas! I thought it would be fun to have a little contest before Spring Break. There will be one winner chosen from each division.
Your task is to create a page inspired by the book I read you today. Obviously, your page must be related to music... and I will be looking for creativity and attention to details. This includes the written portion AND the accompanying illustrations. Try to come up with original ideas. Do not plagiarize.
I will display the submissions I receive for everyone to see and a winner will be chosen before Spring Break. This is not a requirement, but I highly recommend that everyone participate in this as it IS possible that more than one winner is chosen (Hint: I want you to make my decision difficult)!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee

HOW TO POST A VIDEO
1. Go to www.blogger.com
2. Log in to your account.
- Either "div3ninjas" or "div4ninjas"
- Your password is the subject that I teach you (with no spaces).
3. Open a new page and go to youtube
4. Search for your video
- This could be an informal or formal performance, a music video, a clip from a movie or tv show... as longs as it's related to music.
- Remember, this is a SCHOOL assignment. The video must be appropriate for school (language, content, etc).
5. Click on your chosen video to view it.
6. Look under the video and click on the "Share" tab. It looks like this:
7. Click on "Blogger."A new window will open (it should look just like when you're posting a reflection, only with the video first).
8. Click on the arrows on the name tab in the TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER, next to the link that says logout.
9. Choose your blog. This step is very important!!
10. You may either post the video first and then create a new post for your reflection, OR write your reflection underneath the video.
Leave me a comment if you have any other questions. Remember to re-read my post below for tips on getting a 4 in this assignment. If you are planning to hand write this reflection, make sure I know how to search the video you have chosen.
GOOD LUCK, Ninjas!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee

It's your turn!!
Hey everyone!
First of all, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who made it to the book fair last week. It was a huge success thanks to all of you, and especially thanks to my amazing STUDENT CREW volunteers!
For your next assignment, you will
1) POST a video of YOUR CHOICE on your blog, then
2) Write a reflection on it.
I'm really looking forward to what you choose to write about. I will review correct procedures to post videos from youtube, and remember, now that YOU get to choose what to write a reflection on, I expect that everyone will get a 4!
Ask yourself: Why did I choose this video? What impact has it made on me and my life? How does it make me feel? Why? What does it remind me of? (What connections did I make?) What did I like most about it? Ask questions, think deep, and remember to EDIT. I want a MINIMUM of 5 sentences this time. and NO sentences that say "...and that is my reflection." :)
You have plenty of time to complete this assignment. Don't leave it to the last minute!
The DUE DATE is: Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Marked out of 4.
Good luck!
See you in Guitar class!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee

The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
Your next reflection!
One of my all-time favourites songs... I know, I know, I say that a lot! :)
Please write a thoughtful reflection on the video posted above. See previous posts for criteria to help you achieve your 4!!
Ask yourself:
How does the song make you feel? Do you like the melody? The lyrics? Think about all the elements that are in the song. Do you like the fact that there are four different singers? What is the message? Do you have any connections? Do you like how the music connects to the video?
Your reflection should NOT be one sentence long!
GOOD LUCK!
Due Date: Tuesday, February 8!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee
p.s. Check out some of your friend's blogs to help... There are quite a few "4" reflections out there now! :)

AMAZING!
You all did a fantastic job at the Sharing Assembly! I can't say enough how proud I am to be one of your teachers. I hope you all take a minute to think about the performances and let it sink it. Everyone contributed and played a vital part to the overall performance... and it was amazing. Way to go!
Moving on to... MUSIC! This will be the main focus this term. I'm still looking into the guitar situation at school. As soon as I have more information, I will let you know. In the mean time, we will learn about music history. TRUST ME. You will love it. :)
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee

Your Next Assignment
We will be practicing for our upcoming performance over the next two weeks. I would also like you to complete the following...
2. Choose one video that you haven't written a reflection on.
3. Write a reflection on your blog.
Remember, your login is either "div3ninjas" or "div4ninjas" and your password is the subject that I teach you (no spaces). Find your name and add new post, then publish. If you are having trouble with your blog, come see me. You also have the option on writing it on paper and handing it in. Please include your name, date, division, and a title if you write it on paper.
4. The criteria for this assignment is the same as your other reflections (Welcome Home, Stand By Me, Kids...). Ask yourself: "How did it make me feel? Did I like it? Why or why not?, Did I make a connection? What does this remind me of?"
5. You will received a mark out of 4. You all can get 4's! Just be sure to explain your thoughts and feelings about the video. This takes more than one or two sentences!
6. DUE: Tuesday, January 18. Plenty of time.
Good luck! Come see me if you have any questions. You can also check your classmate's previous reflections online to get some ideas on how to achieve a 4!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee

Welcome Back!!
Hey everyone!
I hope you all had a great break! I had a wonderful time with my family down in LA and Las Vegas... even though it was pouring rain for the first week! I ate so much food and got to see all my cousins... My little brother and my dad went to a Lakers game!
Here's what I have planned for second term:
* Practice our performance for the January assembly. I have written up a rough draft of a skit that will accompany our "Kids" and "Jason Mraz" songs. More details to come.
* Music will be our next focus. This will take part mainly in the multi-purpose room, but I will try to get some computer time as well.
* To the winners of the Jack Johnson contest: Please come see me at lunch on Tuesday (Jan. 4)... spread the word.
That's it for now! Can't wait to see you!
Peace & Love,
Ms. Lee
P.S. Anyone recognize this kung-fu legend?
