SOOOOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!

The Christmas concert was amazing! You all performed so well... I took some great photos that I'll show you in the new year. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and an amazing New Year!

It was a very CLOSE call, but.............

CONGRATULATIONS to: Marley's Group from Div. 4 and Tyler's Group from Div. 3! You have won a free lunch with Ms. Lee in 2011! Everyone did a fantastic job on your Jack Johnson performances, but these two groups stood out because of their creativity and enthusiasm. I will have all your marks ready for you when we get back.

I can't wait to see you all again. We will be practicing for the upcoming assembly in January (Kids and Jason Mraz), and we will also begin our Music unit!

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for doing such a wonderful job on your blogs and reflections... I'm so impressed. I will try to leave a comment for everyone but please don't be upset if I don't... This last week before the holidays is so crazy busy! :) I will definitely have your marks ready for next week.

Remember, the Jack Johnson performances will take place next Tuesday. Please be prepared and ready to go at the beginning of class. I will try to find a video camera to tape the performances and maybe even post them on this blog!

Jack Johnson Final Assignment!

Hey everyone!

You still have 4 whole days to complete you blog assignment (see previous posts). I have been checking them online and am so impressed with those of youwho have completed the assignment already. Your marks will be available next Tuesday.

I still need some permission slips back from you re: Media Release for your blogs... Please hand them in asap. Also, I have decided that WE WILL NOT be posting any photos on our blogs.

You've received your final assignment before the Christmas Break. I can't wait to see how each group portrays their song!

FINAL ASSIGNMENT

1) Using your Jack Johnson song lyrics, brainstorm in your group ways you can act out your song. You can use the words "literally" (acting out exactly what is written), or choose to create a deeper story to go with the song (like a music video).

2) EVERY person in the group must participate in some way.

3) Props are allowed.

4) The song will be playing during your skit, so you will be acting without words.

5) If you wish, you may act out a short skit before and/or after the song is played.

6) All groups will receive a copy of your song to read so they can follow along.

Total Group Mark will be out of 4.

RUBRIC:

1 = minimally meets expectations (no clear ideas, unprepared, everyone didn't participate, not enough effort)

2 = approaching expectations/satisfactory (somewhat clear ideas, somewhat prepared, everyone participated but not with enough effort).

3 = meets expectations (ideas communicated to audience in a creative manner, prepared, each group member puts in effort equally).

4 = exceeds expectations (well thought-out and clear ideas communicated to audience, very prepared, entertaining, extra effort from each group member is apparent).

Make sure you have assigned some responsible people in your group to be in charge of keeping the lyrics. I will post links to all the song lyrics below so you can hear them from home.

I really hope everything works out for us today... If not, I have a back-up plan. But we'll talk about that later.

Remember, never post any personal information such as your address or phone number. I will be supervising all of Div. 3 & 4's blogs, so keep the language appropriate and always think about safety and respect when posting anything online.

SOOOOOOO.... Let's get to work!

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:

1) Write your first post!

- Your title should say: Welcome to my very first blog!

- Include your name, grade, divison and three (or more) interesting things about you.

- Some ideas are: unique talents, people who inspire you, funny memories, favorite song/video/movie/subjects/sports/food...

- 5 marks.

2) Design your blog!

- Using the design tab and available template, design your blog in a way that represents you. Do not post any photos yet! We will discuss the rules about posting pictures in a future lesson.

- 5 marks.

TOTAL for parts 1 and 2 = 10 marks.

3) Write a reflection to the new video posted above (it's another one of my favorites). Please follow these instructions, which are similar to your previous reflections:

- Your title should say: Stand By Me Reflection

- MINIMUM 4 sentences.

- Include thoughts, feelings, connections and EXPLAIN your thoughts!

TOTAL for part 3 = 4 marks (4-point scale).

I can't wait to see all your creative ideas! I will teach you how to comment on each others' blogs as well. This is a great way for you to share your positive thoughts with your classmates.

You have TWO whole weeks to complete this 3-part assignment! This should be more than enough time... remember to come see me if you need help!

DUE DATE: Tuesday, December 7. Mark this in your agendas!

Hello everyone!!

Sorry things didn't work out today. I will try to figure out another way for you to create your own blog. In the meantime, please read the following:

UPDATED ASSIGNMENT!!!

Write a response to the "Welcome Home" video.

** PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING BULLET POINTS TO HELP YOU COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT **

- Use your comments from the previous responses (The Giving Tree and Kids) to help you write with this assignment.

- It must include a title, as well as your name, division and grade.

- You may type your response and print it OR you may handwrite it on a separate piece of paper.

- It must be at least 4 sentences.... But it can be more! :)

- Ask yourself: "How did it make me feel? Did I like it? Why or why not?, Did I make a connection? What does this remind me of?"

I will mark this using a 4-point scale (just like the last assignment).

This online assignment is due in ONE week: Tuesday, November 16!!

I will not accept assignments earlier. Take your time. Watch the video again. You might want to add more or change something.

Welcome to my first blog of the 2010/2011 year!

The T-Mobile Welcome Back

It might sound strange, but I love airports. I love the feeling of butterflies I get before boarding a plane, off to exotic places like Thailand, Fiji or South Africa... or even Winnipeg, Manitoba, when I get to visit my parents. What I've come to love and realize is that the "welcoming home" experience is universal. I've been to many airports around the world and I always see the same result: family and friends who can't wait to welcome home their loved ones with open arms and big kisses. Below is a new favourite video of mine. It demonstrates my point... but on a whole new level! Enjoy!
